Who we are
Toolo is run by Kiro Technology Limited, a company registered in Ireland (CRO no. [CRO number]), with its registered office at [registered office address]. We run toolo.ie, the early access site for Toolo, a marketplace and business software for homeowners and trade businesses in Ireland. We are the data controller for the personal data collected on this site. For anything about your data, email privacy@toolo.ie.
What we collect
- Early access list: your email and, on local trade pages, your name, the trade you need, your town and a short description of the job if you give them.
- Page claims: your email, the business name you enter, and the trade and town of the page.
- Business search on local pages: the name you type is sent to our database only to find a matching listing.
- Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address and browser details when you visit, to deliver the page and protect the site.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- Emails about Toolo’s launch and early access: your consent, which you give when you join the list. Every email tells you how to stop them, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
- One welcome or confirmation email when you sign up, and letting our team know about new sign-ups: our legitimate interest in confirming your request and following it up.
- Holding a page you claim and, when Toolo opens, inviting you to verify the business and finish your page: to take the steps you asked for.
- Showing trade businesses on local pages, built from public sources: our legitimate interest in helping homeowners find trades (see below).
Trade businesses on this site
Local pages may show trade businesses in Ireland, including businesses that haven’t joined Toolo. We build these from public sources: the Companies Registration Office’s open data, public registers of qualified trades (such as Safe Electric, the Register of Gas Installers of Ireland and SEAI’s contractor register) and businesses’ own websites. As a rule of the platform, phone numbers and emails are not shown publicly. A business can claim its page or ask us to remove it at any time by emailing privacy@toolo.ie; once removed, it won’t be listed again.
Where your data goes
Your sign-up is stored in our database in the EU (Frankfurt). We use these providers to run this site:
- Vercel: hosts this website and runs the sign-up form.
- Supabase: our database, in Frankfurt, which stores your sign-up.
- Resend: sends our emails.
- Google Fonts: serves the fonts on this site. Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
- Google Analytics: only if you accept cookies, to count visits and see which pages help people.
- Microsoft Clarity: only if you accept cookies, to see how pages are used (clicks, scrolling and anonymised session recordings, with form fields masked).
Some of these providers are based in the US or may access data from there. Where personal data leaves the EEA, we rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified under it, or on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for a copy of the relevant safeguards. We don’t sell your data.
Cookies
We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use this site, so we can improve it. They set cookies (named _ga, _clck and _clsk) that last up to two years, and they only load if you tap Accept on the cookie banner; if you tap Reject or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set. Your choice is remembered in your browser’s own storage. You can change it at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page. We don’t use advertising cookies. If you choose homeowner or trade, your browser also remembers that choice on your device.
How long we keep it
We keep your sign-up until you ask us to remove it, or until 24 months after Toolo opens if you haven’t created an account by then, whichever comes first. Once you have a Toolo account, the privacy policy in the app covers your data.
Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. To come off the list, reply to any email from us or write to privacy@toolo.ie. We reply within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first; you can also complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28 (dataprotection.ie).
Changes
We will update this page if what we collect changes, and tell you by email if a change matters.
